HOW TO DECODE HUAWEI MODEMS

We all have this crave for using different Sim Cards for our modems after the realization that our original Network Operators are just squeezing too much cash out of us.
To unlock your locked modem by your Network Operator can be done by generating the unlock code online or offline.

STEPS 
  1. Look for  IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number which can be found by taking critical look at the writings on your modem.
  2. Write your IMEI number which will be used to generate the unlock code down.
  3. For online code calculator click here or download the software here.
  4. Key in or paste the IMEI number in to the calculator and click on Calculate or Unlock.
  5. A flash code and unlock code (NCK) will be generated. Copy the NCK code down.
  6. Put a different SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card into the modem and connect. A pop-up window will appear requesting for unlock code.
  7. Input your generated code and unlock. NB. Some modems request for not more than ten (10) unlock attempts, so be careful to get the unlock figures right.

Please l have successfully decoded my huawei modem.but the new network seems to be very slow.what might be the cause?please help me.

The Decoding itself has got nothing to do with the speed of the net. The speed of your internet solely depends on the ISP and some other factors as well.
In this case I'll recommend checking your modem dashboard configuration/settings i.e the profile name and the APN (which can be "browse" or "internet" in most cases)
Plz let me know your modem type and your new ISP/network you migrated to if the problem still persists. Regards.

This particular Modem is very stubborn to decode, however below steps can be of great help to you.
Tool needed:
1. Huawei USB Modem Model E173u-1
2. Huawei Temp Unlocking Application Ver 1.0, (You can Google and download)
Steps:
1. Plug your modem into your computer and install driver, you don't need to install driver again if you already installed one
2. Run Huawei Temp Unlocking Application, stated above
3. The program will attempt to unlock your modem.
4. After waiting for few seconds your modem will be unlocked then you can close program.
5. Now your modem is ready to use with any SIM card.
Note: Keep in mind that model E173u-1 cannot be unlocked permanently, so every time you disconnect your modem from your computer, you must repeat step 2 to step 4 again.

Please, when I insert the new SIM, I don't get any pop up. I've been able to obtain the unlock code though. ( vodafone mobile broadband, model: K3772)

after unlocking it said default configurations unavailable

maelo thanks for everything you are doing, my problem is the pop out box of which i have to dial the NCK code in is expecting more than ten digits, and the generated code is only 8, i will really be greatful if you help me out here.

Go to Free Downloads at the Top Left Corner of this page and download Modem Unlocker dccrap.rar. Extract the file with WinZip or WinRAR onto your desktop.

Insert your modem into your PC with a different Sim.

Run the Dccrap zipped on your desktop.

Click on the Microscope Icon to automatically detect your modem

After successful detection, you should see your IMEI number, Firmware, Sim Lock Status etc.

Now click on the Unlocking Option from the List of other Options on the Top Right Hand Side of the Application Window.

Then a Drop-down will Show Up, Just Click on the Unlock and your Modem will be Unlocked Instantly!

Avira Antivirus reports Unloker.exe to contain the virus Worm/Agent.399360. Goodness me, can no-one be trusted in this world anymore. I am highly disappointed.

I'm surprised, I have AGV Antivirus 2013 on my PC which I deliberately used to scan the program even after seeing your comment but it detected no virus. Plz, my programs are virus free.

what happens when i enter the unlock code more than the times required ? coz i did and the code generated for my huawei E3131 moden i.e 53142916 didn't work. is there anything i can do about this issue?? otherwise thanks for the help.

Hi Marian, Huawei E3131 is a Wi-Fi supported modem which can be used as modem as well as wi-fi hotspot, right? Huawei 3131 can be unlocked by writing the unlock code to the modem. If you however insert a wrong SIM card and it prompt for unlock code, then you can use the Codes below:

i. 20587379 ii. 57646566 (You may try both)

If is doesn't, then let me know so I can guard you on how to write the unlock code to the modem. Thanks.

@ MTN Huawei E173u-1. Plz let me know the details of your case. Is your PC detecting your modem at all? If yes, you may use a different dashboard (e.g. Mobile Partner) to connect your modem.

Roy, if your modem is prompting for unlock code after inserting a different SIM, then use this code: 57477038
If not, then you need to download Mobile Partner dashboard (Software) which you can install and connect your modem with instead of your default dashboard. Good luck.
Some modems also need the unlock code to be written to the modem directly in other to unlock.

Kofi, open your modem, remove the Sim card and look for an IMEI number. Write the exact figures and send to me.

Roy, it seems you need to write the unlock code to your modem.
Here are the procedures:
1. Download the unlock code writer by copying the below link into your browser without brackets:

[http://download.myusbmodem.com/home/Huawei%20Unlocking%20Tools/HUAWEI%20MODEM%20Code%20Writer.exe]
2.Open the downloaded software after insecting your modem into your PC.
3. Click on, PLEASE SELECT COMPORT and then DETECT. After your Port is detected, Click on ACCEPT
4. Now Click on UNOCK MODEM. a pop-up window will appear requesting for your Unlock Code.
5. Enter the unlock code I gave you earlier and click on OK

A confirmation will appear as: Send Unlock Command...OK
You are done...... eject your modem and try another Sim Card in it and see the results.

I already got thiS software if you can read me well earlier I have gone through this and I got the same confirmation as send unlock code..... Ok and it didn't work should I insert the default Glo sim or another sim before attempting to unlock it or...

Yes you need to use the default Sim.
I was also thinking maybe you might have over exceeded the number of times (10 max.) you tried entering the code when it first prompted for it. If so then you need to reset the Unlock Code Counter, which I can help you with, but if not, then please install the modem software on a different PC (if you don't want to Format yours). This could pop-up a window for entering your Unlock Code on inserting a different Sim other than the default one.

Francis, check your modem thoroughly for the brand/make (Huawei, ZTE Alcatel etc.) If it is not Huawei modem, then the code given will not work. In any case, check and feed me back with your findings.

Kojo, plz follow the steps below to unlock your k4201 huawei modem with Card Unlocker toool
1.Plug your modem to your computer.
2.Make sure your modem does not have any simcard placed in the slot.
3.Leave the simcard slot free.
4.Let the device install the drivers.
5.Install the default dashboard or install the dashboard you have updated to your modem.
6.If already installed no problem just plug your modem and wait.
7.Your modem will now open the dashboard.
8.Gently close it, plz close don't minimize
